NicheBOT History at a Glance:
- NicheBOT: Originally a free keyword tool created by Jim Morris from a script purchased for $75. Around mid 2006, Jim Morris began the launch of the paid version of his keyword research tool, while phasing out his free version. Jim had implemented access to keyword analysis data retrieved from major keyword data suppliers then provided the keyword research capability directly to the end user of the NicheBOT Keyword Tools. This data was provided from some of the major paid keyword data services.
- NicheBOT2 became the next version with the suite of keyword tools becoming more refined. Simultaneously, upheavals in the keyword analysis data market appeared.
- Today, NicheBOTx is a current, comprehensive combination of various and necessary keyword research tools and methods. Important aspects of the original NicheBOT still exist and are still included. The newest of NicheBOTx keyword tools are refined to achieve keyword analysis results that are specific to current (today), successful SEO and SEM needs and requirements.
For those who remember Overture (taken over by Yahoo) it was an unreliable, but useful tool. If savvy to keyword trends and inherent keyword analysis data problems, one could have gleaned viable keyword results from bad keyword results.

When investing time promoting or marketing products online, there’s always my favorite task of researching and selecting keywords and keyword phrases. With the onslaught of free and paid keyword tools on the market today, you probably wonder what keyword tool to use?
Well, here’s a good one that I use to get “unstuck", and I'll explain why. First, let's look at specific approaches to take when selecting keywords.
- Ask this question, "who is my audience?" Consider the consumer point of view when narrowing down the search terms used in niche marketing. This is a basic and essential step in targeting a niche audience.
- Think about it this way. If you are a potential customer with a specific problem, and seek a solution, what keywords or search terms are typed into the search engines to find the answer?
- Next, surf through Forums, Twitter, MySpace, etc., and discover what issues related to the keyword topic are. Use the keywords list to assist in the investigation.
- Pay attention to the answers for problems and issues found in forum posts. Also, discover additional content possibilities and affiliate products not initially thought of.
The NicheBOT keyword tool and the keywords list generated will reflect the minds of the consumers. Seems strange, but it’s a fact! Don’t misunderstand, I love free keyword tools like the Google Keyword Tool, but it is only 1 /10 of the story, if that. It is perfect for initial keyword analysis. Why the NicheBOT Review?
Amongst a ton of other free and paid keyword tools I’ve used and tested, I have been using the NicheBOT keyword analysis tool since NicheBOT was originally a free keyword tool.
For my Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Search Engine Marketing (SEM) work, NicheBOT has proven itself as an indispensable and incisive keywords tool.
Originally the NicheBOT user interface was quite clunky and overwhelming to most newbies. Luckily, for the years prior to NicheBOT, I became accustomed to doing keyword research manually (quite a time burning task!) so I quickly understood the benefits of what most features were trying to provide.
- I began this review of NicheBOT because over the years I’ve seen ample industry respect for NicheBOT’s keyword generator tool within the SEO, SEM and Keyword Researcher community. There is also a clear respect by other competitive keyword search tool providers that offer the ability to import NicheBOT keyword lists “directly” into their keyword crunchers.
- There are keyword tools available that are tied into Web Site development software. Since those Keyword Tools are mostly lacking as quality keyword generators, import ability by them is required for enhancing the SEO aspects of the site building program. Get your optimal keyword analysis data from NicheBOT and import it!
- Within NicheBOT it is easy to download the NicheBOTx keywords list into a .csv or .txt file for further search term and keywords list manipulation. Plus, many filtering capabilities are provided to help refine the keyword list prior to export. Then take the NicheBOT generator keyword list, work and refine it for export to other Article Writing or Site Building software systems. Apply the keyword list directly to a preferred content or Website development system.

Nichbot – A Keyword Ranking Tool
Each generation of NicheBOT has had its new learning curve, but remember that the search engine industry and internet marketing has dynamically changed as well. And so, this tool has grown and matured to accommodate this ever changing Internet market to remain an effective keyword ranking tool.
I discovered during my research for this review of NicheBOT that sometime in early 2010, a new NicheBOT version, with a simpler user interface will appear on the market (existing members are automatically upgraded.)
This of course will mean a slight new learning curve for all. But well worth it! The history of NicheBOT shows that it was more interested in the keyword list than the interface, but that’s clearly resolved in NicheBOTx.
Personally, I have found that quite a few competitors of the NicheBOT keyword tool are much more complicated to use. They are non-intuitive, contain huge learning curves, contain irrelevant tools and a bunch of bells and whistles that result in useless keywords, or time wasted tasks, and ultimately end with unsound keyword analysis.
NicheBOTx Includes Training
Most, if not all tools available within NicheBOT have a tutorial article or help file, training video and/or both. Available to ease the understanding and manipulation of each Keywords Tool application.
Some of the Keyword training is geared toward newbies in keyword analysis, and are quite comprehensive. Experienced users find it to be a refresher course and may glean insights not considered before.

What Exactly Does NicheBOT Do?

I recommend that you visit the NicheBOT Member’s Account Area frequently and simply adjust various settings according to the appropriate keywords list research. The Member’s Account Area is comprehensive and easy to use.
On top of that, for any keyword, get information on the top 10 or more competitive listings in Google (API key), Yahoo or MSN. This marketing information can include how many indexed pages the Site has, the amount of backlinks or incoming anchor text links, page ranks, and much more.

- Only competition with the exact keyword. Accomplished by doing a keyword, quote-enclosed search such as “DineHalfoff” -- This is typically done for competition match of keyword phrases or long tail keywords (but these results are limited and not the whole picture.)
- Or choose to count competition only if the keyword appears in the page title. ( I choose this mostly)

My NicheBOT Keyword Competition Choice
There are sites that fill positions 1 thru 10 in the SERPs for a keyword or keyword phrase that do not have an “Intitle” (in the title) for the keyword searched. So, when your content is good and the main keyword or keyword phrase is in the “title,” “content” and “meta tags,” a better opportunity to rank high for the keyword exists. This assumes quality content and a few other SEO issues.
Caution…
This isn’t addressing how many inbound anchor text links are pointing to Web Pages that rank high in the SERPs for specific keywords. This is a separate SEO issue! Guess what? -this information is also available from NicheBOT!
Read that again…
Having the keyword within the URL or your domain name also helps. Some CMS Programs built for Web Site Development will use database assigned alphanumeric language type URL page titles. Make sure your URL’s are search friendly and human friendly, like this.

Do further research right in NicheBOT to discover the LSI keyword terms for the top ten results of Google’s SERP. This is a huge competitive advantage!

With NicheBOTx’s “1-Click LSI Keywords” tool, find the keywords that are “officially” approved by Google (Each Keyword or Keyword Phrase searched on will cost a Credit). Note: There is a small gripe I have with NicheBOT’s keyword results page “User Interface.” When a large keywords list like this one from the Google keywords generator, or for that matter any results page, the “Category Titles” seen at the top of each column should follow when scrolling down the long keyword list.
Soon, recognition of what category the keyword results are in becomes second nature. But, until second nature, it is quite frustrating. This minor problem certainly does not overpower the might of the NicheBOT software.
